Tech
This week at tech we have been doing robotics. During robotics we programe mini m-Bots to do things. This week we programed our m-Bots by using algorithm to let our robots mvoe in a square and a circle. Algorithm means making steps or rule to do something. We used the site called " Make Block" to code our m-Bots. It was a bit challenging for some of us since we were new to this but Miss Mazino did give us some hints on how to make the m-Bot do a square.

Inference in Maths
This week in maths we are learning to inference. Inference means to read the text and skim and scam for the hints that tell you what is happening. I worked collaboratively with Ellanora to create a DLO that tells other peolpe Inference in maths. We have put in a example of how to infere when you are asked a maths question. Our question talks about rows in a chocolate bar.

Royal New Zealand Ballet
This week LS2 has had a great opportunity to do Ballet with Chole who is from the Royal New Zealand Ballet. Chole is a dance educator which means she travels around New Zealand to different schools and teaches them how to do ballet. The RNZB's current show is the "Black Swan, White Swan" and this show is based form an original show called " Swan Lake". Chole taught us a contemporary dance sequence from the Black Swan, White Swan. Everyone did really great and tried their best. Chole's tip was to commit to the movements to get the best effect. The music we danced to was a classic called " Tchaikovsky ". A big thank you to Chole from the RNZB programe for taking her time out of her day to come and teach us ballet. Another big thank you to Mrs Jones for organizing this.

Waltzing Matilda - Main Idea
This week LS2 have been inpacking the literary devices and languages in Banjo Paterson's most famous poem " Waltzing Matilda ". In this poem their is old words like: Jumpbuck ( sheep ), Waltzing ( Walking on foot ), Matilda ( swagbag ), Swagman ( Sesonal worker ) and Billabong ( water hole). This poem was a ballad poem which is a peom that tells a story. I have worked collabotively with Avalon to identifiy the main idea of the story and found 3 facts to back the main idea.

Banjo Paterson - Waltzing Matilda
This week for readng we have been looking at the story " Waltzing Matilda". This is a ballad poem and was written by Banjo Pateson but his real name is Andrew Paterson. A ballad poem is a poem that tells a story. Mrs Anderson challenged us to collaboratively work with the person that was sitting next to us. I was sitting next to Avalon so there for she was my partner. We have created a DLO about summarising. Summarising is where we choose 20 important words in the story that pick 6 very important words from the 20 words then using the 6 words we sum it up into a text with a few sentences. I thought that I would make my text funny.

Strengthening connections to maths language
LS2 has been strengthening their connections to the maths language to help understand what written maths questions are asking us. At the beginning of our maths session, we shared the different words we use to say 'hello' and thought about how this could be confusing for people who are learning to speak English. During our maths session, Mrs Anderson asked us what we thought the meaning of a plane is. Everyone had thought it was the transportation type, but in the maths context it was a flat surface. We need to know the what words mean in the maths context to help us understand the questions that we are asked. To complete this activity my group and I dragged each word to their maths box. We used the explore tool to help us define the meaning of a word.
