Swimming

This week LS2 had there first lesson at swimming. Everyone had a great time and learnt new swimming moves. We were splitted into 2 groups and done different tasks. My group first started off with swimming and trying to touch the floor. Next we tried to go on our backs from 1 minute. Soon after that we tried doing tumble turns which is doing and back flip and a front flip in the water. I found it hard to do the back flip because water kept going into me nose and because I couldn't push myself back wards. Most people could do the front flip. Then we done a few challenges and talked about some safety rules about when you are in the water. Lastly we done dolphin moves which was to swim all the way down to the floor and have our hand touch the floor then go back up, swim then go back down.

HIIT

This week LS2 have been doing some HIIT which stands for High interval Intensity Training. We got all got a partner and together we would take turns doing the workouts we were given. My partner was Florence. The first workout we did was the pull ups, where the partner would hole the sides of the stick and you would pull yourself up so that your chest is alined with the stick. Next were pushups. Here we got to do knee pushups and regular pushups. We would have 30 seconds each for a workout. The last workout was high knees and we had the choice of either doing it on the floor or the stage here my heart rate moniter got to red and so did everyone elses. We then done our stretches and then soon done a challenge where we were to do sqauts and go up with the music said go up and go down when the music said go down. The song we listened to was called " Bring Sally up". I found these workouts a bit hard but also very fun because it pushed my to do much better and to keep believing in myself. A big thank you to Mr Ogilve for setting up the equipment, picking the motivational songs and teahing us how to do these workouts.

Times Tables Game

This week LS2 have been working hard towards creating a maths game. It was like Learn, Create and Share. The learn part means the maths we have learnt so far for example long multiplication or place value. The create part is when we get to create our maths game and get creative with it. Finally share where we get to show other people and get there feedback about our game. My maths game is about solving your times tables and once you've finished playing the times tables you have a opinion to do long multiplication strategys or not, I've decided to use Maori as my language. Using a gif maker site I have created a little monster so if you get the answer wrong you can press on the help box that will take you to a video about about to solve your times table but if you get the answer right you will be able to get to the next question. I used dark colours and created visible writing font and colour. After creating my game I asked a friend to test out my game and give me some feedback. The feedback I got was to make my outline of each text box transparent so it could blend in with my blue and purple background.
