End of Year Blog Post Analysis



This week LS2 have been creating their blog post goals for 2019. I have created a graph showing how many blog blog posts I have posted this year in total. In January I have set a high amount of blog post for 23 posts. The reason why is because I have posted some of my Summer Learning activities. My goal for this year is to try and post more than 300. To achieve this goal I should post 5 posts a week. Unfortunately I did not achieve my goal since I had some drafts in my blog. I know have an amount of 139 blog post this year. I have also created a video with the help of Mele that talks about my goal for this year and the amount of posts I had in total. Blog Post Analysis

Guy Fawkes - 1605


Since, Guy Fawkes is taking place soon, LS2 has been creating a number of different DLO's about the reason behind why we celebrate and who he really is. Marieta and I worked collaboratively together to find out who Guy Fawkes was and why he was an important member of the group. To add on we, also included information about his personal biography and interesting facts about his crime. Did you know that , St Peters in York does not celebrate this event ?

Early Maori Enterprise




Enterprise and Economics was first introduced, by our Maori ancestors, before the Europeans settled in New Zealand. Coastal Maori sold Seafood (Kaimoana), while the In-lands preserved birds and berries. The Maori's would often trade valuable items, not knowing it's true value. Maori had grew a number of plants that had been bought by the first arrivals. By the 19th century Maori's ownership passed out.

My 10 syllable sentences:

Enterprise was introduced, by Maori's. Coastal Maori and In-lands preserved food. Good items were sold with cheaper bargains.  Maori plants were brought from the first settlers. 19th century they gave ownership.


This terms inquiry is all about enterprise and economics. We have been learning how the history of how enterprise and economics all started. It is not new because when the early settlers came they introduced enterprise. This week's task was to create a 5 sentence writing about enterprise and then turning each sentence into 10 syllables. We took words out and added words out.

Rocket Glossary


This term our topic for inquiry is Space. During this learning LS2 and LS1 have been working collaboratively to learn about this fascinating topic. We are all split into groups and each group are learning something new. I am in Mr Ogilvie's group and we are learning about rockets. Today I worked with Joel to ind the definitions of the words Mr Ogilvie gave us. I learnt some new words today and the meaning to those words.

Stardome


Last Night the year 8 got a special opportunity to go and see the night show at Stardome Observatory. It was a amazing night. Tobias was showcasing us all about the stars. There are plenty of stars in the night time but in the morning there is only one star which is the Sun. The stars also have constellations and there is about 88 costellations in the world. Two constellations that are close to Jupitar and Saturn are a Scorpion and a Man - Horse.  The Scorpian is closest to Jupitar and the Man-Horse is closest to Saturn. I've learnt that Jupitar has altogether 98 moons and that Saturn's rings are made out of Dust and ice.

Dare Impact Message




This week we recevied a special visit from Constable Cyrus. He is currently at police officer that works at Onehunga Police Station. He came over to our class to talk about Drugs, Cigarettes and Alcohol. It was a great experience to see what he taught us, because we asked questions that was he was able to answer. Did you know that a unborn child has no choice, but to drink whatever their mother has had. We were told different scenarios about drink drivers. Above shows a created poster that Mele and I had created together. We have added a lot of strong facts.

What is a Leader


This week we've been learning about leadership. Alex, Joel, Sakina, Miiana, Viliami and I worked together to create a DLO on what a leader is, what goals we have as leaders this year, what responsibilities we have as leaders this year and what makes a good leader. For what makes a good leader we wrote things like Someone who can step down and let others have a turn, someone who can take the initiative and someone who can learn from both their mistakes and successes.

Sketchnote Team Challenge


Today Alex, Sakina, Joel and I worked together to create a sketchnote on what a team is, our definition of a team is a group of people who work together to achieve a common purpose. In teams all members must respect one another, make sure everyone is included and respect all opinions. Three things that people need to do in teams are: Communicate, collaborate and participate.

Peace


Today I have created a DLO about Peace. On my first slide, I have used 25 words that reflect peace. I then found pictures on google of peace symbols and have attributed it. I choose one of the symbols and created its own slide showing what it means. For slide 5 I choose a peace activist and wrote some facts about them and what they did to create peace. My collage shows different drawings I did on showing peace.

Spaghetti Bridges



This week Mrs. Kirkpatrick's Inquirys group have been working on Spaghetti Bridges. The materials we used was Rubber Bands, Tape, String, and Spaghetti. In my groups, there was Sky, Mele, and Magenta. Together we worked collaboratively to finish it off. We used bricks as an experiment to see which bridge was the strongest. Our span was 28 cm. Unfortunately, our group only got 1 brick. We had only one brick because our bridge kept falling down. I think we should have changed how our bridge stood by itself. Overall I thought this process was really fun.

Greetings - Koeleafakaapapa

This year for Tongan Language Week LS2 and LS1 have collaborated in different groups to learn words for Tonga. I worked collaboratively with Suilia and Angelica and together we have created a DLO showing a conversation in Tongan and translating it into English. We also have created a Tongan character with the DLO. My favorite part about this task was working with people I don't really know and getting to know them better.

3 Venn Diagram

 

This week for Inquiry we done a comparison of all 3 structures whcih was Bridges, Tunnels and Towers. In this process I learnt how to use a 3 venn Diagram. It was really easy once I got the hang of it. I worked with Magenta to finish the Diagram and together we found a great amount of information. We got to compare each structure and we also got to learn more about them. In each circle we wrote info about each structure for example the bridge is above ground and the tunnel is underground.

This week for Inquiry we have been learning about Bridges. Me and my partner Magenta have made a Venn Diagram about the Golden Gate Bridge and the Harbour Bridge. We have been comparing and contrasting. I learnt thatThe Harbour bridge is 330 feet high and The Golden Gate Bridge is 27 feet.

Tunnel comparison


This week I have been learning about tunnels. I wokerd collabortively with Fui and Nyjah to finish this task. Using a Venn Diagram we compared and contrast  the Gotthard Tunnel and Water View. My favourite part about this task was working with other people because I usally like to work alone.

Reflex Experiment



This week for Inquiry, our focus was Body Systems. Today I have created a Graph showing a game we done with tests. We've also created a DLO collecting our data. I worked with Alex. I wrote a hypothesis to see what I would get for the end results. My hypothesis was that I thought that I was going to be the best at Test two. At the end my hypothesis was correct. My best test was test 2. The game we played to link to this graph was called the Reflex game.  Its when you have a partner. The first test is Visual. You get a ruler and you drop the it without saying go. The next test is Aural. When you have to close your eyes but your partner has to say " Go ". The last test was tactile. You will have to look away and your partner has to tap your shoulder. At the end we found another set of pairs and worked with them to create a graph with our results.

Body System

Today for inquiry we have been learning about body systems. I learned some of the body systems so far. I then got to play a game which we have to add the right body part to the person. My higest score is 26. It was a bit trickey but I did have some fun. Some parts of the game got me fusturated. The score has to try and be 26.

Mnunomic

Today for inquiry we have been learning about Mnunomic. Mnunomic is a living object the can Move,Respiration,Sense, Grow,Reporduction,Excretion and have Nutrition. For example a Tree can do all of these. A shorter name for Move,Respiration,Sense, Grow,Reporduction,Excretion and Nutrition is Mrs Gren. Mrs Gren can help us remeber what a living object can look like. Today me and Mele have created a DLO showing all the meanings to Mrs Gren . We have also added images to show what we mean by a living object. Some of the images we have was created by Me and Mele.

Maori Legend Story



Toady Mele,Me and Chavda have been creating a story using Story Board That. The story we recreated was The Maori Legend Story. This story was about a tree called Tane Mahuta who was the God of the forest who tried conveincing  Gods if he could make a woman so the woman could a child of its own and the earth would have people who enojoyed it.

Agent of Change


Today I have created a DLO about being an agent of chanage. We looked at how we could be agents of change in our own 2018 learning journey. I have added in my explanation on ways I can become an agent of change and what I can do. This will help me to set my goals for 2018.
