Shakespeare

This week for Writing LS2 have been learning about Romeo and Juliet. This is one of Shakespeare famous plays. Firstly we watched a video about the story and then wrote a summary about it. We then turned that summary into 10 syllables. Our challenge for this week was to create a video, DLO or animation that tells us about the story but we could only choose one scene. Our group choose to do the Fighting scene because we found it most interesting. During the fighting scene Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight but he doesn't accept it. So then Mercutio comes and but suddenly he dies. Romeo gets mad and then kills Tybalt. We used the app Chatter Pix to help create out videos and then used I movie to edit it.

Pop-up Globe Visit

Last Week Rita and Reuben came to visit our class. They are from the Pop-up globe that's in Ellerslie. Rita and Reuben are actors at the Pop-up Globe. They talked about the amazing things they do when acting. I found it interesting that they mix genders when acting. The first Globe was hit by a canon while acting. So they made a new one with holes for light. They told us that a tragedy plays would end with death. They also said that comedy plays would end with marriage. Rehearsal would take 6 weeks for the actors to get learning. William Shakespeare used a ten pattern beat in a play. Their plays would weave Maori Language and culture in plays. The narrator would use the fourth wall to include audience. During plays it would take one to two hours long. The best place were in the front of the globe. The cost of tickets were about $10 dollars per person.
