Everyone did a great job creating their movies. In my group was Angela, Chavda and Fui. We created a movie about to program your mBot to follow a line. Everyone tried their best and the results were that Alex's group came first, Then our group came second and Nidhi and Eyaka came third. A big thank you to Miss Munoz for teaching use how to program robots, we had a fun time learning.

Kiwi Can

This week was another great time at Kiwi Can. Our topic is Resilience where you keep cooping back up and never giving up. Our theme is self control where you control the things you do. This week we learnt about how to be focus and not distracted when doing a task. Sometimes when you get distracted it can be caused by chatting with friends, Notifications, Different Priorities and not paying attention to what you are learning or doing. Sometimes we can solve these problems by sitting somewhere where you won't be distracted, Turning off your notifications and try to focus on finishing your work. All of this links back to our topic resilience. Making mistakes is alright because we just need to know to never give up.

Marieta Point of view: Plastic Straws

This week for writing we are talking about persuasive text. Our topic was about plastic straws. We watched videos and talked about if we should or shouldn't ban straws. We looked at different facts and opinions, facts is a true piece of information. I have created a DLO about different perspectives as to why we should and we shouldn't ban straws. I learnt about provocation, this word means when someone does or say a speech that triggers strong feelings about a topic. My opinion is that we should ban plastic straws because it's causing to much harm to turtles and it takes a while to break down. Opinion means your point of view. A perspective means the way you see something for example in depth or distance.

The Rise of the Dawn

This week for reading we have been learning about the Dawn Raid. Waiheke have been reading the story of the Dawn Raid and asking questions to each other so we can have a learning conversation. Then we separately created DLO about the perspectives on this story. My opinion about this story is that I think that it was really unfair. New Zealand needed people so they called the pacific people and once Robert Muldoon came in he took them away just in a blink of and eye. Once the Polynesian Panthers were formed, they fought for their rights to stay here in New Zealand. People wanted to work so they can provide for their family.

Swimming

This week we have had a great time back at swimming. Our instructor was James. We learnt how to do the stream line, back stroke, free-styling, breast stroke and floating. For the freestyle we were to swim and try to breathe while swimming. Then we learnt safety rules, one was to always swim feet first when you are doing a back stroke.Soon after we learnt how to do a breast stroke where we move our legs and arms at the same time. My Favourite swimming move would be freestyle because I enjoy trying to swim without standing on my legs.

Kiwi Can

This week for kiwi can our topic is emotions. Emotions can be showed by many different ways for example facial expressions. Emotions are important because we feel each day and it helps us to take action and influence the decisions we make about our lives. Our theme for this term is resilience which means cooping back up in hard challenges and never giving up. To show this we were spilt into groups of 5 and got a role play to act out. Everyone had different ways to show their emotions.
