Jenna Evans swallowed her engagement ring, thinking everything was a dream. However when she woke up, she noticed her ring was no longer on her hand. How I will be an asset to my new school
How I will be an asset to my new school ?
Have you ever wondered about the different things you will be doing at your chosen college?. That's me!. I am going to Tamaki college and I'm pretty excited about it. Tamaki College is a great school. I like the teachers there because they are welcoming and kind. Going to a new school can be hard for people because you are around new people and new teachers. Although for me I like to try new things and set goals for myself. Meeting new people is not hard for me at this college since I've experienced what life is like there.
Tamaki College has many opportunities for students that go there. They teach a driving course, many different subjects to does many celebrations. I like to celebrate a lot of festivals so I can be useful and help by convincing people to come!. Going there will not only make me happy but also help me understand my learning more too. I am a good student to go there, because I am very hard working.
I am determined to work hard and achieve the goals that I have set for this year. I have achieved all my silver C.A.R.E award badges and am still working hard to achieve my gold badges. I have joined a variety of sports such as touch, cricket, after-school netball, inter school netball, and softball. I have also received my 500 blog post badge and am trying to blog more to get to my 1000 blog post badge. I am sure that I will try my best at this college despite the hard times I go through.
When I go to Tamaki I will give 100% and commit to working hard and achieving my goals that I have set for the year. I try my best at all sports I sign up for. I try to join a lot of sports and ensure that I am listening to the teacher. One subject I am very good at is writing because I understand what we are learning and I am very fast when it comes to finishing off my task. In reading, I am good at communicating with others about the articles that my group reads. With maths, I can solve problems using different strategies.
I am going to Tamaki college and I'm pretty excited about it. Tamaki College is a great school. I know that I have the qualities to go to this college and impress the teachers with my skills. Going to a new school can be tough for most people, because you are around new people but for me meeting new people is easy because I can interact with people pretty fast. This is how I will be a great asset to my new school.
This week LS2 have been writing explanations. The year eights are writing about, " How we will be a asset to our new school" and year sevens are writing about " Why they make a good leader". I am going to Tamaki College and I'm pretty excited about it. I think that I'll make a great asset to my new school because I have many great skills.

Possum Problem
This week in reading, we read an book about possums and how they were brought to New Zealand. As we were reading we made notes about what we wanted to know, what we already knew and the information we found out. After we read the book, we created a screen castify about possums. We created a DLO and scripts for each person to read.

Showing our values
Showing Our Values
What do you do when your not being treated right?. Everyone has their time when someone's not being kind or showing empathy. Those words are called "Values". There are many different values such as: Respect, Kindness, Empathy, Tolerance and Positive Attitude. Each word has a different meaning to it but I have chosen 3 very important values I think that is very important to show everyday because it's important to be respectful to each other.
The first value is Respect. It means to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. If you treat someone else badly than it is most likely for that type of attitude to be shown back. Receiving respect from someone else makes us feel good and safe. Having respect in your relationship with somebody builds trust, safety and well being. Respect is kinda like showing kindness too, you need to be nice to one another in order for you to get treated the same way back.
The second value is Kindness, meaning to be nice to each other and not being mean. Kindness in a relationship is also very important because it makes you feel good about yourself. Doing things for other people such as helping them or even giving a gift to them makes you feel warm that you accomplish doing something that's right and not wrong. Just like empathy, you need to be kind to each other when someone is not feeling happy.
The last value is Empathy. It is when you put yourself in other people's shoes and feel what their feeling. It's always important to show empathy so we know what to do when someone is feeling sad about a certain situation. When you show empathy it also shows how much you care for that person and even helping them through their situation is even better. This is why it important to how empathy.
All these values are important to show to everyone each day. Yes you may not be treated nicely sometimes but just remember treat them how you want to be treated, be kind to them and show empathy cause they might show it back. By doing this it will show to everyone that you are able to show values. This is why using our value daily is important to us.
This week I have wrote an explanation about why it is important to how our values. I have chosen three important values I think that we need to show everyday which is respect, kindness and empathy. Respect means to treat everyone the same you want to be treated. Kindness is to be nice to one another and empathy is to put your self in other people's shoes and feeling what their feeling.

Early Maori Enterprise
Enterprise and Economics was first introduced, by our Maori ancestors, before the Europeans settled in New Zealand. Coastal Maori sold Seafood (Kaimoana), while the In-lands preserved birds and berries. The Maori's would often trade valuable items, not knowing it's true value. Maori had grew a number of plants that had been bought by the first arrivals. By the 19th century Maori's ownership passed out.
My 10 syllable sentences:
Enterprise was introduced, by Maori's. Coastal Maori and In-lands preserved food. Good items were sold with cheaper bargains. Maori plants were brought from the first settlers. 19th century they gave ownership.
This terms inquiry is all about enterprise and economics. We have been learning how the history of how enterprise and economics all started. It is not new because when the early settlers came they introduced enterprise. This week's task was to create a 5 sentence writing about enterprise and then turning each sentence into 10 syllables. We took words out and added words out.
