The Inchcape Rock

This week for reading we have been learning a poem. This poem that we lenrt was called a balled poem. We had ceated a DLO showing the meaning of one of the verse. I used verse 10. My favourtie part about this learning was hearing the peom Mr Johnston had been telling us.

M&M's


Today I have been learning about M&M's. I worked collaboratively with Fui, Julian, Aung Naing and Affonso to find out some facts about M&M's. I found out that a man called Forrest Mars created M&M's by seeing soliders eating a sugar coting shell with chocolate inside. From now on today M&M's are a known to be favourites.  I also learnt that peanut M&M's were invented in 1954.

Casey and Jeff Animated Story


This is an Example of an animated story that I've recreated using Scratch.  The components that I used to recreate this story include: Backdrops, Sprites and Dialogue, Speech Bubbles

The codes that I used to recreate the story include:

  •  Events code to start the story,  
  • Looks script to enable the sprites to talk,
  • Control script to wait how many seconds each sprite would talk,
  • Looks backdrop to have the background pop in

Raurimu Spiral informationa



Today for Key into Evaluation set 4 I have created a DLO about the Raurimu Spiral. Something I learnt today was that the Raurimu Spiral was a Single track railway.  It is really long and it is an engineering master piece. I have created a DLO showing what the Raurimu Spiral is.

Making Connections



In Reading today, we have been doing Making Connections. Our book that we read was called Ready Steady Snack. Something I've learnt from this book was to eat healthy when an event happens. I used this DLO to wirte in the following: Text to Text, Text to World and Text to self. The Text to Text is when you get to compare the story book to another story or a movie. The purpose of Text to world is comparing the book to something out in the world and Text to self is writing about your reaction to the story.

Unicycle Tricks

Today I have learnt about a Unicycle. I learnt that in the word Unicycle uni means one. I have found a video thjat shows how someone riding a Unicyle on a tight rope. My reaction to this video is shocking because in a part of the video it looked like he almost fell but instead he went around the rope. I would not try this because I could get out of balance and fall.

Kiwi Sport

In Kiwi Sport today, we have been learning to get our defence better. We first played a game that included 2 teas to vs each other. We played this game like this: The team on deffence have to try rip of their tag. If they do get their tag ripped off then they would have to go to the other side of the court. If some people on the attack team get to the other side that would be a point. We then started to go into our Rippa rugby game. At this point our defence was really good. The points that each group was getting was low. What I liked about this session is that I got better at defence.

Digital Project - Initial Planning



In DigiTech today, we started the initial planning for out Digitech project. We stared of with a game of Kahoot to remind us what our animated stories needed. We then got into our tasks. Our task included completing the following task :

Context Brainstorm
Conceptual Statement
Panning Time frames

The purpose of the context brainstorm is to help us identify the different places in the Tamaki Area.


The purpose of the Conceptual Statement was to write down our own opinions telling others the the age rate of our stories.

The purpose of the Planning Timeframe is to tell us how much time each task will be incase of a animated story.

Kiwi Can


This week for Kiwi Can our value that we've been learning is Accountability. Accoutability means taking responsability for your own actions. It also means to show honesty if you are in a bad situation. The challenges we did were called Copy me and Green Light. The first game we played was called copy me. In this game we had our own groups. We then got cards which were actions that we followed. Each number had a time limit. My leader for my group was Joseph. The next game we played was Green light. Green Light was a game of Accountability. We each had a partner for this game . The point of this game was to listen for the light Miss Lilly would give us. Green light was to swap, Red light was to get a piggy bank from your partner, Yellow light was when the first person in the front  had to kneel down and the second partner had to sit on their knee.  Our school Panmure Bridge School shows Accountability by Charging thier chroombook to be ready for their learning at school.

Today for reading I have been doing aactivity called Making Connection. Pounui have been using this site to compare other things to this story called Music Makers. There is Text to Text, Text to World and Text to Self. I think this book was a good book because it means to me that practise makes perfect.

Reflex Experiment



This week for Inquiry, our focus was Body Systems. Today I have created a Graph showing a game we done with tests. We've also created a DLO collecting our data. I worked with Alex. I wrote a hypothesis to see what I would get for the end results. My hypothesis was that I thought that I was going to be the best at Test two. At the end my hypothesis was correct. My best test was test 2. The game we played to link to this graph was called the Reflex game.  Its when you have a partner. The first test is Visual. You get a ruler and you drop the it without saying go. The next test is Aural. When you have to close your eyes but your partner has to say " Go ". The last test was tactile. You will have to look away and your partner has to tap your shoulder. At the end we found another set of pairs and worked with them to create a graph with our results.

Facts about Geeses



Today for reading I have created a DLO on facts about Geeses. I've used a site called discovery kids to help me find some facts. I used the facts but turned them into my own words. I've also used a Labelled Diagram of a geese to look at the parts of a goose. One thing I've learnt from this is that some geese migrate every year. I thought they migrate every 2 years. I also found out that a goose looks almost like a duck but the ducks beack goes round when it comes to the end and the gooses beack is a bit pointy.




Read Theory Progress


Today I have been on read theory. This picture shows the progress I have made on Read Theory. The higest grade I can go up to is grade 5. Read theory is a site that can help you gain your reading knowledge. Read theory has diffrent Non-fictions stories that you can read at diffrent grades. I'm working hard to be higher than grade 4. Right now my grade is grade 4. My progress on Read theory is very low. The reason why is because I haven't been on it lately.

Tidy Numbers Word Problem


Today for maths we have been learning to use the tidy number strategy using the 5 times tables to work out other maths multiplication. What I done was I've used a maths strategy to solve it out with tidy numbers. What tidy numbers are a number that ends in 0. To use this strategy I firstly had a equation. For example 8 x 7. I then times it using the 5 times tables. This turned out to be 8 x 5. The answer would be 40. I then made the number 7 using the number 2. I made this my 5 and 2. So then 8 x 2 = 16. I then added up the answers I had. 40 + 16 = 56. So my answer to 8 x 7 would be 56. I think this strategy iz a very good strategy to use because it is simple and it helps me alot.

Kiwi Sport




Today for kiwi sport we have been practising our steps. We were learning this so when we have a game of rippa rugby we can trick the person to going the way we steped from the way we are actually going. We then got into partners and then number each other. This way we could have an equal team of players. When we played we first went into odd numbers then even. The winners were my group. We won because we worked hard and we consentrated on our steps.

Today for kiwi can we are still learning about Integrity. Our topic is Role Model. What we done frist was we were divided in 2 teams. We then had to write down some people that were Role Models to us and why they are Role Models. We then played a game where someone goes outside and someone inside our group has to make a beat, and the person outside has to come in and has to look for that person making a beat. We then played the statue game. Were we have role models. We have to create a satue for that role model. The role models  were Jean Batten, Same Webster, Steven Adams and Lorde.

Student Led Confrence


Thursday night was Student Led Confrence. Student led Confrence is a event that the students take. They invite their family to come to show them the process of their learning. I had my Mum and brother come. I first introduced them to Mrs Anderson and Ms Kirkpatrick. I then showed them the work I've created based on Writing,Maths,Reading and Inquiry. I then showed them around the class. In each part of the class I told them what we've been learning and how to use it. My mum siad that her favourite part of our learning was the Art because she was impressed of the diffrent shapes we used in Pop art and the Ngatu designs because they had diffrent drawings from diffrent countries. Overall my family were really impressed and were happy that I've been doing good at school and learning a lot of new things. 

Tech


Today at Digital tech we have been learning how to make animations. We used the site Scratch to create our animation. Mrs Anderson helped us sign up. We first looked at steps to help us create a easy simple animation. This animation was called Cassey and Jeff Goes To the Park. We used the tools Look,Events,Control,Background and Sprites to help us create the animation. Sprites were another word for characters.
