This week LS2 have been creating their blog post goals for 2019. I have created a graph showing how many blog posts I have posted since I started blogging. I started at 2015. I think I did really well when started using my chromebook. I have done a good amount of posts because we would post things like Xtra maths and more. I was really focused. My goal for this year is to try and post 300 this year. To achieve this goal I think I should post 5 posts a week. The year I had the most blog posts was 2017. The reason why is because participated in the Summer Learning Journey.

Kiwi Can
This week was another great session back at Kiwi Can. Our theme is Positive Relationships and our topic is Cooperation. Positive Relationship means getting along with other well meaning you are being kind to each other and showing respect to others. Cooperation means always participating and to take risks at things you've never tried before. We learnt how to negotiate. Negotiate means to discuss somethings formally in order to make an agreement with each other. For example if I wanted to draw an icecream but my best friend wanted to draw a person we would need to negotiate with each other untill we've created an agreement. Kiwi Can says " You and me, were a team, we achieve anything! ". Our energizer was A's & B's. To play this game you think of a person to be your A and another person to be your B. Once you have chosen you will need to get closer to your A than your B without them knowing. Our next game was called Magic Shoes. One person in our team will have magic shoes and will try to figure out a way to get each team member to the other side. This is where every needed to collaborate well so then we could figure of great ideas for the magic shoes person to get each person on the other side.

Dare Impact Message
This week we recevied a special visit from Constable Cyrus. He is currently at police officer that works at Onehunga Police Station. He came over to our class to talk about Drugs, Cigarettes and Alcohol. It was a great experience to see what he taught us, because we asked questions that was he was able to answer. Did you know that a unborn child has no choice, but to drink whatever their mother has had. We were told different scenarios about drink drivers. Above shows a created poster that Mele and I had created together. We have added a lot of strong facts.

Stretching Sentence
This week for writing I have been practising on how to strectch a sentence. I've created a DLO to show and example of how to stretch a sentence and the purpose of stretching sentences. To stretch a sentence all you need is a simple sentence, You then add in a Who,What,When,Where and a Why to each sentence you make, This is called stretching the sentence. By doing this you are improving the simple sentence that you first started with.

Wildboy by Brando Yealvich
Today I have created a DLO on a book I have read called Wildboy. This DLO shows what the article is about. The title of this article is called " Wildboy". It is about a boy named Brando Yelavich who took a brave journey to be the first person to walk across the New Zealand Coastline. I think that Brando Yelavich is a very brave guy for doing the adventure he took. He might of not been that good in school but he didn't give up throught his journey. One this I learnt from his story was survival skills because the article told me about how he found food.

Rubbish
Do you ever think of what happens once you throw away something? We see rubbish all over our land but never think to pick it up. It may have been on dirt or an insect could be inside but do you ever think of what is happening around us. Did you know that nine billion tons of rubbish are affecting our marine life? We should start to think about the things rubbish is doing to affect us.
Although this is may mean nothing to some people it definitely can do much worse than we think. One way we could fix this problem is Reuse!. Reuse, What does it mean, well it says it in its name. We can use things again instead of throwing it away. Like plastic water bottles. My family and I always reuse water bottles because sometimes the water bottles at the shops are expensive.
Another word we can use is reduced!.
Reduce means making a big problem into a smaller problem for example, We are reducing the amount of plastic we are using. We can still eat chips for our lunches put instead of bringing it to school with the packet, we could use reusable containers to put them in. This was we are reducing the amount of rubbish that gets thrown away at school.
Many people try to start a campaign to save our world. By doing this they do all sorts of things and one of them is picking up rubbish. This is called recycling it means putting our rubbish in the bin. We put things like wrappers and more. Sometimes there is glass that has been broken and we step on them, Who knows what a small piece of glass can do to our feet!.
Let's recall We need to stop littering and start changing. We should always Reuse and Reduce. Looking after our environment is very important. .So let's make this problem a different change and always remember to Reuse, Reduce and don't forget to always throw your rubbish in the bin.

Today I have been working on how I could make my explanation for writing better. We used the Writing Rubric to help us work out which structure and language features I already know how to use. I have grouped up with Mele and Sakina. Together we have been checking each others work and giving feedback to each other. For example I think I got an R4 for punctuation because I have used Commas, Explanation Marks and a Question mark in my explanation.

Maths Problem
Today I have solved another maths problem. This problem was about money. To solve it since the book said that everyday Tom would spend $2 and everyday Tia would get $2.50 I just keep subtracting 2 from Tom and adding to Tia $2.50 untill Tia would have more than Tom. Overall it took five days for Tia to get more money that Tom.

Tech Reflection
Today it was another great session back at Tech. The year 8A have been creating art designs of an apple using different types of colours like oil pastels and chalk pastels. The picture on the top shows a photo of our art. I learnt how to blend in well with the chalk pastel and the oil pastel. To blend in well with the chalk pastel you need to use the scissors to scrap of some chalk pastel. Then use a cotton ball to dab some shavings and use the colour on the apple. Start blending in with other colours such as orange and yellow. If you do get the colour over the outline just rub it out with a rubber. It works really well.
