Life of the Transport Ship

This week Jayden, Mele, Pua and I learnt about Life on the Transport Ship for World War 1. Together we all worked collaboratively to find information about the Transport Ship. In World War 1 there was a Transport Ship that took the enlisted people from New Zealand to Egypt ( which was there base ). I learnt that over 550 nurse died at war. It took about 6 weeks for the soldiers to get to Eygpt. Each one of us received different roles to do. While Mele and I were writing the 5 w's and H, Pua and Jayden were finding images and information about the Soilders. We added the source links for the sites and images we used. Each group was to present their shared DLO's, which showed others that we were ganing our researching skills.

Continents of the World

Did you know that Africa is the second largest continent in the world?  As a great start to the morning LS2 have been learning about the continents in the World. There are 7 continents in total, which are Africa, Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica. Working together helped us build our general knowledge and our collaborative skills. Asia is the largest continent in the world and is also known to be the most popular one. To create the DLO we added interesting facts and images that explained information about the 7 Continents in the World. We worked together, but got different roles to complete this task.

Camp Diary

Today I have created a flip book about my camp diary. My camp diary was about the things we did at camp for each day. I have added images to each days slide. I used the site Flip Book to make my DLO look like a real book. This was a digital version of our book and this time I got to change some words around.

Colllage

This week as another activity for camp me and Florence have created a Collage about the fun activitys we done at camp. We have altogether 13 photos and have a big bold title. We both decided to put the photos angled and put everywhere. At camp there were plenty of fun activities. The frame was a white bold line because the background was black.

Key Competencies

This week by celebrating camp I  have created a DLO about the key competencies we used at camp such as  thinking, relating to others, using language, symbols, and text, managing self, and participating and contributing. In groups we all worked together and shared our ideas with each other. I have wrote in the things I did do at camp and before camp we wrote our hypothesis of what we though we were going to do.

Photo Story

This week as another activity I have created a DLO about camp. This DLO shows the things we done for each day. To do this I have created a table chart with each day in each box using photos to showcase the fun activitys we done at camp. My DLO first starts from the bottom for all of the days.

North Island Kokako Bird

This week as one of our activities for school I have created a Infographic about the North Island Kokako. This DLO shows the Kokako's Diet, Appearance, Preys, Habitat and facts. One thing I learnt was that the south island Callaeas ( Maroi Name for Kokako ) have and oragne wattle and the North Island Callaeas have blue wattles.

Group Challenge

This week for writing Mrs. Anderson challenged us to write a response that Siri might have said in exactly 50 words. We were to answer, Why is Kokako Lodge a great place to take year 7/8 students on camp? To help us we used our camp diaries, outside the box DLO, LS2 rubric, and our camp photos. As a group, we took part in the learning conversation, by sharing our ideas with each other. To receive points we were to use the selected language features, which were simple, compound, complex sentence, a comma, correct beginning, and end sentence punctuation, an exclamation mark, simile, and brackets. If we used any of these language features we would receive 5 points. Using 50 words gave us 50 points. Extra points were added if we collaborated, communicated, used the LS2 writing rubric, camp photos, camp diaries, outside the box DLO, and if we completed it on time. Altogether our group totaled up to 95 points.
