  1. Hi Marieta,

Wow! I like your crane and I particularly like that you made it even though it was very hard for you. That shows great persistence and dedication. Well done :)

I used to live in Japan and when I lived there I made dozens and dozens of cranes. It took me a VERY long time to make a good one, however, as I often got confused myself. Origami is a difficult art. I am sure that, with practice, you'll find that it gets easier and easier.

Speaking of practice, I am messaging you to offer you the chance to practice your reading and writing skills this summer. I am leading the Summer Learning Journey programme and am spending the month of January reading student blogs and commenting. Would you like to get involved and blog with me?

If so, you can copy and paste this url into your search bar (https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/welcome), complete some of the activities and blog about them. You can choose any activity that you would like to complete. Each activity is worth points and the student with the most points at the end of the summer will earn a prize. It's a lot of fun!

Please consider joining our journey. We would love to have you!

    All the best, Rachel

  2. Hi Marieta :)

It's Rachel and I am sending you this message as a friendly reminder that the summer blogging project (Summer Learning Journey) is currently underway. It is a great way for you to practice your reading and your writing.

The programme has been running for two weeks and is about to head into the final week (Week 3). There are over 20 fun activities in the programme and you can complete as many as you wish. Each activity is worth points and the points will be added up at the end of the summer. Students with the most points will win prizes. All participants will also earn a badge and a certificate.

I will be checking your blog spot every day up to and including Tuesday 26 January (the last day of the blogging programme) to see if you have participated.

If you would like to join the programme and receive lots of comments and feedback, please log onto the Summer Learning Journey website: https://sites.google.com/site/summerlearningjourney/home-1, register and then click on the 'Weekly Activities' tab. You will likely want to start with 'Week 1.' During week 1 you will be invited to choose a country to travel to, buy an airline ticket, watch the All Blacks perform a cool safety video, pack your suitcase, and review a good book for the airplane ride!

A number of students from your school are currently participating in the programme and we're all having a great time. If you'd like to be one of them, please log on and blog today!

Hope to see you online this week :)

    Cheers,
    Rachel

  3. Hello Marieta,

I'm Rachel, I love your crane very much. It's very beautiful. I like to make origami when I was young but it's too hard for me. I'm so impressed that you're only Year 4 and you know how to make a origami crane. I'm Year 9 now and I haven't know how to make a origami crane. Heart shape is the only origami I knew how to make.

You did a really good job. Maybe you can ask your teacher to change your place you're sitting or get in front to see how your teacher made it so you won't get confused!

    All the best,
    Rachel Chin.

  4. Hey Marieta!
Your crane is beautiful! A couple of years ago, origami was something I did all the time! It always reminds me that something amazing can be crafted from a subject that seems plain, or simple, with just a few folds.

It makes me smile knowing people around the world are appreciating world-art
Keep up the great work :)

    Sincerely,
    Ananya
    Student from Toronto, Canada
