End of Year Blog Post Analysis

This week LS2 have been creating their blog post goals for 2019. I have created a graph showing how many blog blog posts I have posted this year in total. In January I have set a high amount of blog post for 23 posts. The reason why is because I have posted some of my Summer Learning activities. My goal for this year is to try and post more than 300. To achieve this goal I should post 5 posts a week. Unfortunately I did not achieve my goal since I had some drafts in my blog. I know have an amount of 139 blog post this year. I have also created a video with the help of Mele that talks about my goal for this year and the amount of posts I had in total. Blog Post Analysis

The Colombian Exchange - Summer Learning Journey Day 3 ( Activity 3 )

For the last activity for day 3 activity 3 I am to talk about a person that bring a significant impact on my life. This was a very hard decision because I have many people I want to talk about. I choose to talk about my mum. My mum is a very hard working women. She is a kind women and choose to become a teacher for the disable people. Working their has also put a big impact on the children that don't have the abilities to do things we can do. She always is very busy especially with her business. She is getting many orders and has to cook dinner lunch and breakfast for us everyday. She is always helping me in so many things. I look up to her in so many ways and I am proud to call her my mother.

Interviewing - Summer Learning Journey Day 3 ( Activity 2 )

This week it is the Summer Learning Journey teaser week. I have completed activity 2 for day 3. For this activity I have interviewed 3 friends and asked them what they are proud of. Me and my family are proud for myself. The reason why is because two weeks ago I got baptised. It was scary but I got through it. The next day out of 50 people I was chosen to read the word for the preacher. I was really shy but I am so happy that I accomplished this goal that has been waiting for me for about 3 years. Here are the three people I have interviewed:

Mele: " I am very proud of my mum who graduated from university to become a midwife, because I too believe that i'll be following her footsteps sometime in the future. People think that I do this, just because my mum is, but the reason why is, because I know that i'll be able to manage the working conditions, skills and knowledge. As a young child my mum didn't really have enough time to give us a great living style, but as I get older, I'll have the ability to give take care and give her the best future".

Taheesha: "I am proud for being confident and saying my speech in front of 2 judges and other students"

Joel: "I am proud of my sister finishing college and going on to university because she has worked so hard to get a scholarship and she has stayed committed to her subjects."

Water Project - Summer Learning Journey Day 3 ( Activity 1 )

This week is the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey Teaser Week. The theme for this year is called "change makers". This theme will help us learn more about incredible people who have changed the world. For this activity I worked collaboratively together with Eyaka, Ellenora, Mele and Angelene. To complete this activity we were challenged to answer a few questions about the water project: what is the goal of the organisation, where do they work and what they have achieved. Before answering these questions, we watched a video to find out more about the water project. Something interesting that I found out was that approximately 1 billion people have no access to clean water.

The Greatest of all time - Summer Learning Journey Day 2 ( Activity 3 )

This week for the Summer Learning Journey it is the teaser week. We have decided to do the teaser week for practise for the real activity's. For this activity I was to pretend that I was Garry Kasparov. He has been the top-ranked chess player for 15 years straight ( 1985 - 2000 ). He is also known as G.O.A.T which means greatest of all time. He had started playing chess when he was 17 years. He practised every single day and hour. Here is mys story:

Greetings,
I am Garry Kasparov and I am and chess player. I have been top-ranked chess player for about 15 years straight. Which is from 1985 - 2000. The fun part was that my family let me stay home so that I could keep on having practise but I didn't get time to see my friends. I lost them but my biggest regret was not spending time at all with my family. I have come so far but I know that all of my practice was used when I won my first chess game. Playing chess is not easy but it also is a game where you think a lot. When you play you have to make sure you make the right move. Winning 15 years in a row is my biggest accomplish.

Pay Gap? NO WAY! - Summer Learning Journey Day 2 ( Activity 2 )

It is day 2 for the teaser week of the Summer Learning Journey. For this second activity I was to talk about weather or not it is fair or the men sport team to get paid more than the women sport team. I think that it is totally not fair. Women try their best in all sports like the women black ferns rugby team. They have won the Women Rugby World Cup 5 times in a row. They also have just turned into a professional rugby team. They have tried so hard and to make it worse, they get less paid then men. I think that this should change. What do you think?.

Similie - Summer Learning Journey Day 2 ( Activity 1 )

This week is the teaser week for the Summer Learning Journey. It starts on the 16th of December ( Monday ) and finishes on the 28th of January. It is day 2 now and for the first activity I am to create different similes but I need to be creative. A simile is a sentence that include the word "like" or "as". Here are my 4 simile sentences:

  • The moon is as bright as the stars
  • My drink was as cold like the Ice
  • Her shoes were like a clean sponge
  • His legs were as long like a giraffe's neck.

Big Friendly Giant - Summer Learning Jounrey

This week is the teaser week for the Summer Learning Journey. LS2 have decided to give it a go and have practise with the activity's but this will give s no points. For this activity I was to draw a image of the BFG ( Big Friendly Giant ). The I was to write a short explanation about what I think BFG looks like. This story was written by Ronald Dahl and the story was also made into a movie.

Pepeha - Summer Learning Journey Day 1 ( Activity 2 )

This week is the teaser week for the Summer Learning Journey. It is day 1 and I have completed activity 2. For this activity our challenge was to create our own Pepeha. a Pepeha is like a mihi that tells other people more about you. I have also created a video of myself saying my Pepeha. For the background I used a picture of Moce Falls which is a river in my Island. I have also added in a drawn picture of myself.

Lorde - Summer Learning Journey Activity 1 ( Teaser Week )

This week LS2 have been working together with LS1 and room 5 to practise the Summer Learning Journey. It starts on the 16th of December Friday but we wanted to have practice and try out  the teaser week activities. For this activity we were to create a informational poster about Lorde. In my DLO I have added facts about her. The fact I found most interesting was that her real name was Ella Yelich-O’Connor but on stage she calls herself " Lorde ". At the moment she is 23 years old and when she was 13 years old her first record deal was offered to her. I also learnt that her best friend is Taylor swift which is also a singer. Her mother ( Sonja Yelich ) is Croatian and her father ( Vic O'Connor ) is Irish.

Mayflower - Letter Animation

Every year a special event is held in the United States. Thanks giving is a national holiday that is celebrated in the United States, Canda and many others. Last week LS2 focused on why and how thanksgiving was important. Together in groups we worked collabritively together to finish this animation. After reading a site of information we were challenged to retell the story in 5 sentences. Therefore, we created an animation to show our retold story.

Market Day Evaluation

On Friday Panmure Bridge School had their first ever Gala. It was a great day and many people went around the school buying hand made things. Instead of using real money to buy things we exchanged our money for tokens. For example $10 will give you 10 tokens. LS2 created hand made rainbow crayons. To do this we went around the school collecting/asking for broken crayons. We then melted them and put them into different shaped moulds. Everyone liked it and brought as much as they wanted. It was $1 for each crayon which we think was just priced right. We managed to sell out our stock. Our gross profit was $96.00, Our cost to buy things were $8.00 and our net profit was $88.00. I think that our idea was viable because the colours were attractive, it was cheap and it was at no labour cost. Maybe next time I think that our market should be on the courts so it would be easier for people to get to different stalls.

Tessellations

This week for maths we have been learning about tessellations. Tessellations is when a flat surface, like a piece of paper, is covered with repeating geometric shapes. For this task we were tessellating shapes but we were allowed to only use one shape to tessellate. This challenge was hard because there must be no gaps in between the shapes. Gaps were only allowed on the outside. I choose second to last shape which was the L looking one. I found this also fun because we got to make the shape we choose any colour at all.
