Summer Learning Journey - My Dish

Today I get to talk about a dish. The dish that I choose to write the ingredients for is Qalu pronounced ( N-G-A-L-U). Galu is a Fijian dish that taste like chocolate. It is a very delicious dish and its also a famous dish in Fiji. I remember that my Grandfather would always make us Galu for lunch. The ingredients for this dish are:

  • Brown Sugar
  • Bannana
  • Coconut Milk
  • Starch

  1. Hi Marieta

This sounds so yummy! What steps do you have to take to make it? I have tried to find the recipe online but haven't had any luck. Would you be able to share the method with me?

    Thanks,
    Izzy

  2. Hi Marieta,

This dish sure sounds yummy! You have the ingredients, but is there any chance for the instructions, because I'd like to try. In Tonga we make something very similar to this, but it's called faikakai. It is a Tongan caramel dessert. Did you take that photo?

    Nice!

  5. Hello Marieta! Well done, your dish sounds great. Telling by the few ingredients, this sounds quite easy to make. I like how you chose a traditional food to write about, it was very interesting finding out this about you. Do you have any other cultural favourites? Keep it up!
